In the UK we also tried to keep it alive in 'Piccadily Circus' It was literally 100 yards, from the 'Japanese Centre' in London. The number one place in the UK, London, to buy Japanese books and goods.

とても懐かしいです。以前、タワーレコードの請負業者として、ハワイを含む米国内の各店舗にレジやコンピューターシステムを設置していました。ロンドン店や日本の店舗には行けず残念に思っていましたが、日本の店舗には今からでも行けるのですね。世界に知らせてくれてありがとう！
This is a blast from the past for me. I used to work as a contractor for Tower, installing cash registers and computer systems at every location in the U.S. including Hawaii. I never visited the London store nor the store in Japan, however. I always thought it was a shame I missed on on those locations. Now I can still visit the one in Japan! Thanks for telling the world about this!

タワーレコードは素晴らしかったです。サンフランシスコのノースビーチ店や、後にはニューヨークのブロードウェイにあった店舗へ通い、たくさんのレコードを買いました。自主制作雑誌の品ぞろえも良く、私が作った雑誌を店頭に置いてもらったこともあります。良い思い出です。
That’s Tower was great. I used to go to the one in San Francisco in North Beach and then later in New York City on Broadway downtown bought a lot of vinyl. At one point i had a zine I published on their magazine rack because they had a great selection of independent magazines. Good memories.

ナッシュビルの大学には、学生寮としてタワー1とタワー2という高層建築があり、その向かいにタワーレコードがありました。ずっと関係があるのだと思っていました。
At Vanderbilt University in Nashville there were 2 high-rise buildings for student housing that were called Tower 1 and Tower 2. Directly across the street was Tower Records. I always thought that they were related.

前回日本を訪れたときは、そこで4時間を過ごし、1970年代後半から80年代のシティポップ、ジャズ・フュージョン、ファンクのCDをかご二つ分買いました。通路を一つずつ巡りながら探す時間が本当に楽しかったです。
Last time I was in Japan, I spent 4 hours there on the 3rd floor, buying two baskets of late 70-80s Citypop, Jazz Fusion and Funk CDs. I found so much stuff. And then went across the street and shipped it all back to the USA for like $70. I really enjoyed going through every isle and digging

I refuse to stream music. I buy my music. Even my grandchildren 1 and 5 know what an album is and can change the cd out to one they like. I made sure of that.

Tower Records was alright for a chain. But I frequented the independent shops in my town. Mainly because my baseball coach ran one, and the other one was a bit of a legendary institution that had been around since the 50s.
