13年間、日本と行き来しながら今は暮らしています。多くの点には同意しますが、少し理想化しているかも。サービスや清潔さ、細部への配慮は本当に素晴らしい一方、住むと官僚的な仕組みや同調圧力、変化への慎重さも見えてきます。旅行と生活では、かなり違う景色になりますよ。
As someone who’s currently living here and back and forth in Japan for the last 13 years, I agree with a lot of this but you’re romanticizing it a bit. Japan really is exceptional at service, cleanliness, safety, attention to detail and making everyday life work. That part is hard to appreciate until you’ve spent time elsewhere. But living here is different from visiting. The same culture that creates incredible order and consideration can also mean rigid bureaucracy, social pressure, conformity, indirect communication and systems that are frustratingly resistant to change. Japan is def amazing.. but you def get a much more nuanced view of the country once you’re living inside the system rather than experiencing it as a visitor.

私にとっても一番好きな国です。食事で大外れを引くのは、むしろ難しいくらい。少し日本語を話すと一段と温かく迎えてくれました。自然や歴史、現代性、独特の面白さが全部ある。秋には東京で1カ月暮らす予定です！
My favourite country too. Basically impossible to have a bad meal unless you really try. Everyone very polite, but so welcoming the minute you speak some Japanese (even if it is the normal nihongo jouzu). Incredible scenery, nature and history, alongside modernity and weirdness. Going back in autumn to live in Tokyo for a month.

まったく同感です！ 3週間の日本旅行から戻ったばかりですが、同じ印象でした。控えめな振る舞いや仕事ぶり、繊細な心配りが本当に心地よくて、帰国後がつらいほどです。

Googleマップが普及する前、道で行き方を尋ねたら、その人は場所を教えるだけでなく、1キロ以上も一緒に歩いて案内してくれました。まったく同じ方向ではなかったのに！ 今でも忘れられません。
pre-Google Maps era, I asked a person on the street for direction to somewhere. He showed me (a dude) where it was, and then *insisted* on walking me most of the 1km+ there. It wasn’t on his way or anything. Forever Nippon supremacy 🙇‍♂️

i visited japan 20+ times. some of my visits lasted months. visited almost all prefectures. i used to agree with everything you said but then i visited china.
