2007年以前の日本の携帯電話市場は本当に面白かった。独自の進化を遂げた別系統のような存在で、当時は魅力的な機能が多く、米国市場よりずっと先を行っていた部分もあったと思う。
The pre 2007 Japanese mobile phone market was really interesting. An entirely separate evolutionary branch that went extinct because it was less adaptive when the iPhone slab form came along, but for its time they had a lot of cool stuff and were way ahead of the American market.

I actually do miss tech that performs less or more niche functions, with haptic buttons and dials to compliment their intended purpose. There kind of needs to be another company like old Braun that creates functional products at a competitive & reasonable price point.

The jog dial with free-spin mode is on another level. If the screen can update at 60 fps, as some e-ink screens can, this would be even more amazing!

これ、すごく好き！3段階スイッチとボタンも欲しいな。モード切り替え、押して話す操作、録音の開始・停止、音声アシスタントとの対話に使えそう。
I fucking love this! Though I kinda want a three position switch plus a button – switch is modes, push to talk, push to start or stop recording, and like an interactive voice assistant mode that talks back (like the new chat gpt voice mode)

I don't know who you are, but I cut the control panel off a set of broken headphones because it has an ON/OFF slider, a dial, and a clickable button for mute. These are literally the fundamental elements in the device I'll be designing. Just felt obligated to share.
